  • You expect a VLSI design seat with a plain B.Tech and no portfolio. Community consensus is consistent: core design roles skew heavily M.Tech (IIT/NIT VLSI), with B.Tech entry running through design-services firms or trainee programs. No audited percentage exists, but planning against the preference is planning to be the exception.
  • You are about to pay ₹1 lakh to a VLSI institute on a "100% placement" promise. Documented fees run ₹2,500–1,12,000; placement claims are self-published and unaudited (we looked for audited rates — none exist). The legitimate versions of that money: NPTEL’s VLSI ladder at ₹1,000/course, or C-DAC’s official ₹99k PGCP-ESD with centralized placement.
  • You read "1.5–2 lakh semiconductor jobs" as design jobs. The approved-project data says otherwise: fab/OSAT direct jobs are operator/technician/process-engineer grade (Micron’s own job mix), and one May-2026 approval batch projected just 2,230 jobs from ₹3,936 crore invested. The fabs change India; they do not mint RTL seats.
  • You dislike C. Embedded — the branch’s volume door — runs on deep C, RTOS, and protocol literacy (UART/SPI/I2C/CAN). If low-level code repels you, the honest doors are IT services (takes ECE at scale) or the data track.
  • You need the premium NOW and cannot invest the depth.
