TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) is the state-level counselling process for admission to B.E./B.Tech courses in Tamil Nadu. Unlike JEE Main or other entrance exams, TNEA does not require any separate exam — your 12th marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (out of 200) are your TNEA score.

Conducted by Anna University on behalf of the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), TNEA covers 477 engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu with approximately 1.8 lakh seats in all engineering branches.

Eligibility Criteria

Education: Must have passed 12th (or appearing) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics

Minimum Marks (General): 50% aggregate in PCM (100/200)

Minimum Marks (OBC/BC): 45% aggregate in PCM (90/200)

Minimum Marks (SC/ST/SCA): 40% aggregate in PCM (80/200)

Domicile: Must be a native of Tamil Nadu OR studied in TN for last 2 years

Age Limit: No upper age limit. Must have completed 17 years as of July 1 of admission year

Board: TN State Board, CBSE, ICSE, and all recognized boards accepted

TNEA 2025 Registration Opens

Online registration on tneaonline.org. Upload documents, pay ₹500 application fee.

May

12th Board Results

TN State Board, CBSE, ICSE results declared. Your TNEA score = PCM total out of 200.

June

TNEA Rank List Published

Rank list based on PCM aggregate. Tiebreaker: Maths marks → Physics → random number.

June-July

Choice Filling Opens

Select your preferred colleges & branches (up to 25+ choices). Order matters — list top choices first.

July

General Round Allotment

Seat allotment based on rank, category, and your choice list. Accept/reject within deadline.

July-Aug

Report to Allotted College

Pay fees, submit original certificates, complete admission. DON'T miss the deadline!

Aug-Sep

Supplementary Rounds

Additional rounds for vacant seats. Last chance for students who missed earlier rounds.
